The JCR notes that...
II. The JCR does not have a running club/ society
II. Regular physical activity is a clear way to get fresh air, release endorphins, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
III. Parkrun is a weekly, free, 9am walk/jog/run that takes place in University Parks every Saturday of the year, and is open to participants of all fitness levels.
IIII. Participation does not require prior experience, specialist equipment, or payment.
The JCR believes that...
I. Within such an academically stress-inducing environment, it is essential for Oxford students to prioritise health and well-being.
II. This 5km event can seem intimidating to non-runners or runners who typically exercise individually.
III. It would be good for the health and wellbeing of JCR members to have access to a friendly community of fellow-runners/joggers/walkers to attend Parkrun with.
IIII. A Parkrun society would promote, encourage, and support the health and fitness of JCR members, ensuring inclusivity of all abilities.
The JCR proposes that...
I. Establish a JCR Parkrun Society to organise and promote weekly attendance at University Park's Parkrun event.
II. Ensure the society is explicitly inclusive of all abilities, including those who wish to walk, jog or volunteer.
III. Allocate a modest weekly budget for the purchase of post-run refreshments (e.g: Lucozade and other drinks/snacks), to be administered by the society's organiser(s).
IIII. Promote the society as a welfare-positive, social activity rather than a competitive sporting commitment.
